Daft Punk have previewed new song 'Give Life Back To Music' in a trailer for forthcoming album 'Random Access Memories' - watch the video above, now. 

The snippet of the song comes at the end of an advert that shows Daft Punk "unboxing" the album. 'Give Life Back To Music' is the first track on 'Random Access Memories' and is the second song to be heard from the album after the smash hit 'Get Lucky' featuring Pharrell, which cemented its place at Number One in the Official UK Singles Chart this weekend after passing 100,000 sales per week for the third week in a row.

Pharrell Williams recently spoke about his collaboration with Daft Punk and revealed that he "met the robots at a Madonna party and they were just like, 'We're doing something'. I said, 'Whatever you guys need, I'll do it. I'll play tambourine.' It feels like the only click track they have is the human heartbeat, and that makes it really interesting because these are robots." When asked what the ideal scenario for listening to 'Random Access Memories' is, he replied: "In a car, pulled up to the beach with my girl. Just let it play. This music is beyond 3D, it's 4D. You don't need MDMA to enjoy this music."

Last week it was reported that Daft Punk had no plans to perform live around the release of 'Random Access Memories'. They release the album, which also features collaborations with the likes of Julian Casablancas, Chilly Gonzales and Giorgio Moroder, on May 20.

Back in 2001, when both artists were at the peak of their popularity and acclaim, it would be virtually inconceivable to think that Daft Punk and Julian Casablancas (of New York alt-rock demigods The Strokes) would do a song together. But in the meantime, Casablancas has gotten a little more synth-pop, and DP have gotten a little more rock and roll, and now a collaboration between the two of them doesn’t sound so jarring, conceptually or practically–in fact, “Instant Crush” sounds almost exactly halfway between where the two artists are right now, and not an awkward stretch of any kind on anyone’s part.

So what does that midway point sound like? Well, it’s a tense, midtempo groove vaguely reminiscent of the Alan Parsons Project’s ’80s prog-pop hit “Eye in the Sky,” with Casablancas working out his hushed falsetto as he did for much of the recent Comedown Machine LP, though auto-tuned to the point of sounding Daft Punk-esque. It’s not until the chorus releases into a pop/rock burst that things become recognizably Strokesian, Casablancas singing flusteredly about a relationship over a synth two-step.

A 2001 collab between Daft Punk and Julian Casablancas undoubtedly would’ve seemed like the future of music. In 2013, it’ll have to settle for being a kind-of-cool pop song.

Allmusic's David Jeffries also gave it four stars on five and wrote: "Macklemore & Ryan Lewis combine the handclapping, foot-stomping, and propulsive rhythms of old-fashioned gospel music with an infectious, uplifting chorus that could have been ripped straight out of will.i.am's playbook...this motivational, "this is the moment" number is identifiably and lovably Macklemore.

As befits the auteur who created Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive, this second solo album by David Lynch is a charming tour through the swinging hits of the 1970s. Only joking, it's actually a little dark. A fusion of blues and early rock'n'roll styles with electronic production techniques, you are dragged into an American wilderness where the land is parched, the sky crackles with electricity, and there's a pair of glowing red eyes watching you from a distance. Across this scene drifts Lynch's singing voice, high-pitched, largely distorted and croaking like a wizened fairground barker. Believe it or not, this is a step towards the mainstream for Lynch, whose first album, 2009's Crazy Clown Time, set the vocals to "deranged helium fiend". Indeed, this whole album feels less of an art stunt and more of a well-executed idea. The style does pall eventually, but a cover of Dylan's The Ballad of Hollis Brown is loping, menacing but also melancholic, while Last Call updates suburban blues with the rhythms of trap. Oh and never fear, there's reverb guitar and creepy echoes for fans to enjoy, too.

Biography

In addition to his prodigious careers as a director, writer, producer, sound designer, and carpenter (to name a few), David Lynch also stretched his artistic reach to music. He collaborated heavily with his go-to composer Angelo Badalamenti on the scores and soundtracks to his projects, including the music for Blue Velvet, 1990’s iconic Twin Peaks soundtrack, and Mulholland Drive. He also collaborated, with and without Badalamenti, on pop albums such as Julee Cruise's Floating Into the Night (which featured songs she performed on the Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks soundtracks) and jazz guitarist David Jaurequi's Fox Bat Strategy. Lynch teamed with sound engineer John Neff for Blue Bob, a one-off project that the duo recorded in Lynch’s home studio. The director worked with Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse's Mark Linkous on Dark Night of the Soul, a project that featured Lynch's photography and Linkous and Danger Mouse's music, and also included a song sung by Lynch. Though the project was intended for release in 2009, legal issues prevented it from being distributed until mid-2010. Later that year, Lynch released the double-sided debut single Good Day Today/I Know, which was released by the U.K. imprint Sunday Best. Featuring Lynch on vocals and all instruments, the single was given a physical release in early 2011 and featured artwork by 4AD designer Vaughan Oliver. Magna Carta... Holy Grail is the twelfth studio album by American rapper Jay-Z. The album was released on July 4, 2013 via digital download by the Jay-Z Magna Carta app for free, and was released on July 8, 2013 for retail sale, by Roc-A-Fella and Roc Nation while being distributed by Universal. The album was promoted via various commercials presented by Samsung and was not preceded by any retail singles. The album features guest appearances by Rick Ross, Nas, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce Knowles, and Frank Ocean among others. Production on the album was primarily handled by Timbaland and Jerome "J-Roc" Harmon, while also featuring production by Boi-1da, Mike Will Made It, Hit-Boy, Mike Dean, No ID, The-Dream, Swizz Beatz, and Pharrell Williams among others.

Magna Carta... Holy Grail was met with mixed reviews from music critics upon its release. On the day of its physical release in the United States, the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA for shipments of over 1,000,000 copies due to the unprecedented digital download deal with Samsung.

Jay-Z’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail” will top the Billboard 200 by a wide margin next week. Released July 4 to Samsung owners, but only to traditional retailer on July 9, Hova’s latest album will move up to 520,000 units, according to Hits Daily Double. And that’s above and beyond the one million copies distributed through Jay-Z’s one-way deal with Samsung. 

He’s one of three artists with new albums debuting within the top 10. After a long absence, Ciara returns with “Body Party,” which looks good for No. 2 with up to 60,000 copies. Skylar Grey, best known for co-writing “Love The Way You Lie” for Eminem and Rihanna, will likely bow at No. 9 with “Don’t Look Down.”

This week’s No. 1 title, J Cole’s “Born Sinner,” drops to No. 3, while Kanye West’s “Yeezus” slides to No. 4. Imagine Dragons’ “Night Vision” is at No. 5. Wale’s former No 1, “The Gifted,” is at No. 6.

Florida Georgia Line’s “Here To The Good Times” is No. 7. Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories” is No. 8, and Macklemore &  Ryan Lewis’ “The Heist” will likely be at No. 10.

Pet Shop Boys recorded the album in London, Berlin and Los Angeles from November 2012 to April 2013. On 30 April 2013, the duo announced on their website that they had recorded the album over the "last six months", with "Fluorescent" in particular "written and recorded within the last month". Stuart Price was chosen to produce the album.Price finished mixing the album in late April 2013.

When Pet Shop Boys began working with Price, they made it clear that they wanted to make a "dance record". Price stated that his goal was for every track to have a "euphoric, fresh feel to it". The more dance-influenced nature of Electric was a response to the "reflective mood" of their previous album, Elysium.

The album is the first Pet Shop Boys studio album that was not released through Parlophone. The 28-year relationship between the duo and the label ended when Pet Shop Boys announced that Electric would be released through Kobalt Label Services. Pet Shop Boys subsequently announced that the album would appear on their own label, x2 (pronounced "times two"), under the Kobalt banner. Chris Lowe was given credit for naming the label. Pet Shop Boys intend to release all of their future albums on x2
